Semi-Intensive Courses

The objective of these courses is the acquisition or improvement of grammar and vocabulary using a number of teaching aids (authentic documents, audio recordings and visual aids) permitting a better competence in the areas of expression and comprehension, both written and oral.

The following five modules are touched upon each day. French literature equally forms an integral part of the training.

 

COMMERCIAL FRENCH

Acquisition of commercial and economic vocabulary in order to know how to write letters in French.

  • Vocabulary exercises
  • Oral implementation through roleplay
  • Discussions based around commercial situations
  • Written texts drawn from different economics economic publications

 

WRITTEN EXPRESSION

Acquisition of French grammar and its numerous idioms

  • Dictation (to detect phonetic errors)
  • Structural exercises
  • Automatic writing (application of grammatical theory)
  • role-play using acquired skills.

 

VOCABULARY

Acquisition of vocabulary: formal language, standard language, popular language and slang.

  • Vocabulary exercises (structural)
  • Oral applications using role-play and sketches.

 

ORAL EXPRESSION

Develop the capacity to hold a conversation, express an opinion, reflect on a question, improvement of pronunciation.

  • A presentation on civilisation themes
  • Students choose a news item that they present to the group
  • Debates around themes from news items
  • Play with language and words.

 

CIVILISATION

  • Discover different aspects of French culture through cinematic works.
  • Projection of a film
  • Explanation of vocabulary
  • Analysis of the form and subject of the films + civilisation, compared with the different countries represented
