http://www.museeslarochelle.com/ This museum offers a rich panorama of European painting from the 15th to the 20th century with some classic works of art ( Eustache Lesueu, Paul Liégeois, Jacob II de Gheyn, Luca Giordano, Willem van Velde Le Jeune).
It offers equally a complete illustration of the painting of the Salon of the XIX century (Camille Corot, Paul Huet, Gustave Doré...) with a marked predilection for original artists of the region such as Théodore Chassériau, (father from La Rochelle), Eugène Fromentin ou William Bouguereau. Other than the vues of the port of La Rochelle by Paul Signac et Albert Marquet, the XX century is represented by the remarkable works of art of d'Aristide Maillol, Antoine Bourdelle, Alberto Magnelli, Paul Chaissac... alternately exhibited.
This museum presents a surprising collection of about a thousand bottles, of miniatures, samples, powder boxes... a century of activity in this luxury industry.
Situated in the old port, it tells, by fabulous scenes, the story of La Rochelle from the 12th century to the present day.
